MCC UPDATE

Just a note from the interim board to let you know what's up.

We received our interim funding from Culture and Heritage so we areon stable financial footing for this period. The programming committee has been working hard to plan for upcomingshows. Thank you, Alison Norberg, Monica DeJong, Bill Shoup, LilyRosenburg, Ann Tyre and Susan Styrchak. Shawna Dempsey was hired to write agrant application which was submitted to the Manitoba Arts Council. We should find out in mid to late June if our proposals are accepted.

A grant application has been submitted to the Winnipeg Foundationfor a new and improved website. We should hear whether this grant is accepted in late September. In the meantime our existing website will be updated, making it more useful to you.

We are going to begin accepting memberships in July. Diane Whitehouse is designing a brochure which should be ready by July. MCC will be offering shows of Fine Craft including a juried show and we will continue to provide you with information of national competitions & events.

Our AGM is planned for September 23 (location to be announced). With your support and active participation, MCC can continue to represent you as an organization promoting fine crafts and advocating for Manitoba Craftspeople on a provincial and national basis. Now is the time to commit, renew your membership and pause to consider your involvement in the future of an organization that promises to be vibrant again in representing the needs of Manitoba Craftspeople.

- David Krindle for the interim board

A request from Aynsley Anderson:

Hi y'all. This is gonna sound ridiculous, especially to those of you who know that I don't have or want a vehicle! However, I've always really wanted a CamperTrailer type thingy...I'd like to park one in my backyard (*cough *cough, white trash!) and fix er up into an arty studio/guest room. So this is me sending my request out to the Universe...if anyone knows anyone wanting to get rid of an old trailer (free or really cheapo-like $500 or less) I will happily arrange to pick it up and I shall turn it into a sweet, much loved space for arty contemplation. Feelfree to forward this to anyone who may be able to help me in my quest. Love you guys! Aynsley Anderson, AynsleyE-mail Address(es): ayneanderson@yahoo.ca
