Clay Sculpture Whimsy with Jordon
Mon Sept 24 to Oct 16 Clay Sculpture with Jordan Van Sewell $150.00 plus GST
On Jordan's website www.jordanvansewell.com he says "The really great thing about being an artist is that you're never out of a job! I've been making this stuff for 25 years and it's never been anything but fun and profit. These images come from my head. A lot of the ideas began with my only real job to date- that of a brakeman on freight trains sitting in the cupola of a caboose. Elements of my sculpture come from an idea, maybe a misconception, that the world was an easier, friendlier place. I've interpreted this into the visions, figures, robots, lizards, dogs, the seemingly brain challenged human characters and the period cars, trucks, motorcycles and situations they find themselves in."
Participants in this class will use their personal iconography to make clay sculpture. Course highlights will range from glazing methods and an emphasis on techniques for hand building, while recognizing both historic and contemporary references. Students should have previous experience working with clay. 6:30 to 9:30 PM

Just a reminder of the approaching concert with Karyn Ellis.
Karyn Ellis’ music is “twangy…cool and difficult to classify”. It maps out the bittersweet trajectories of relationships with a distinctively sweet voice, unique guitar style and gentle sense of humour. Her folk-based pop songs are beautiful and sad, uplifting and quirky, and Karyn “can envelop you in the warmth of that voice and break your heart at the same time.” She will be accompanied by Brian Kobayakawa on double base.
