2006 WAVE Artists Studio Tour
Helma Rogge sends this -
The 5th WAVE Artists Studio Tour June 10 & 11, Sept. 2 & 3, 10 am to 6 pm The WAVE brochure will be on shelves before the May long weekend.
Our website will be updated with 2006 artists also by May long weekend www.watchthewave.ca
We are pleased to announce two new artists: Dee Friesen: this artist is inspired by the landscape and animals of her hobby farm, she immortalizes her four-legged friends on special selected rocks and slate.Heather Lair: is complimenting the fiber art on the WAVE tour. She is amaster quilter, and known for her exquisite and innovative quilting and appliqué technique. And that's not all, there is a gallery called The Centre at the Winnipeg Beach Plaza, where people can pause and view a collection of very interesting artwork. As well step out for a stroll through the beautiful historic Winnipeg Beach Provincial Park. This is created by Bob Martin, founding director of the WINNIPEG BEACH ART + CULTURE/WINNBAC Co-op. And the best event I think, is our partner exhibit with childrens' art andmentors from ART BEAT July 14, 15 and 16 at the Plaza. ART BEAT is an afterschool art program at the BEACH. Garry McKague builds raku pottery with the kids, and myself, H. RogueRaiders, helps kids to create with acrylic paints.
Essentially a self-guided tour, visitors are invited to speak with artists who are producers of fine art and fine craft and view their work in the artists' natural environment. Take the scenic route through cottage country along Lake Winnipeg's western shore, experience the vastness of Netley Creek and Oak Hammock Marshes, leave the beaten path for charming country lanes and take a trip inland to Stonewall. Cover the whole tour in a round-trip loop, make it a day or a weekend adventure. Great restaurants, picnic sites, sandy beaches, a refreshing dip, inspiring historic sites, first class accommodations, and of course, an art experience up close and personal...and perhaps, take home a work of art inspired by the Interlake. Participating artists will be flying the blue & white WAVE flag. For info visit:Www.watchthewave.ca Email:hroggere@mts.net, beachwes@mts.net Or 1.204.389.5633; 389.4813

Art in the Garden
This opportunity is an invitation through Judy Jennings.
Our Natural Garden Tour is on Saturday, July 22 - 10 am to 4 pm. I will be volunteering at this spot as I did last year. I should be able to find a few extra hands to help out.

If artists would still like to bring art works for Art in the Garden, they will be presented at Millenium Gardens which is this year's community garden. It is in East Kildonan on Henderson Highway. It's a larger garden than last year and a neat place with herb gardens, vegetable gardens for the 55+ people who live in the area, a native prairie at the side and a gazebo showing some of the history of the area. The art work would look great tucked into one of the gardens.
