RE: Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, 2007

As you may be aware, the 2007 Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show will feature the work of 26 Canadian craft makers. The project to manage this participation is being led by the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec.

We have already been through the first stage of jurying for this project, and the Philadelphia jury has so far identified 20 Canadian participants. The jury for the Philadelphia show is seeking further applications to balance the craft media to be represented at the 2007 show.
The Philadelphia jury has indicated that they would like to see more work by basket makers, makers of wearable fibre art, and goldsmiths. We have therefore agreed to seek further submissions from Canadian craftspeople and this letter and accompanying documents are to invite craftspeople working in these media to make application.
Attached to this memo is information about the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show and an application form. We have set a deadline for receipt of application and images of November 6, 2006, if you wish to be considered in this second round of the search. Only craft makers working in the three identified areas should apply. Those who have applied previously and not been accepted will not be reconsidered, and therefore should not re-apply.
If you have questions, or require further information, please contact:
Anne Manuel at the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador

or
Louise Chapados at the Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec

Or contact Gaetanne Sylvester at gaetsyl@mts.net. for application form.
